| PEER Awareness Comes to Monroe County High Schools!
Over the past weeks, the PEER Awareness DUI Simulator program was brought to Monroe County High Schools. This is a three part program where students see a DVD that outlines the effects of a DUI accident on High School age students. But it does much more than the old movies that just show a crash and body parts, it shows how the accident affects the student, the family, the school and the community. The students then go on to the DUI simulator. The Picture to the right as well as the other pictures below show the simulator in action. The Simulator takes into consideration such things as gender, body type, number of drinks and time since last drink to set up the simulation. Participants wear a "heads up" goggle display much like the kind used to train Apache Helicopter pilots. After the simulator, students are then asked to sign a pledge book, pledging they will not drink and drive.
